Do Lowering Resolution Improve Performance of the Game ? Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1

Hi, how you people doing? So Fortnite chapter 2 has started with a bang and it's really awesome. The whole map is new and also the guns and other equipment are a little bit different than the chapter 1. There are a lot of things in the game to explore. I know many of us have low configuration PC, and the way these games are improving the graphics, It's kind of getting really questionable whether in chapter 3 we are going to able to run the game with our medicore PC's. Epic told us in previous season that Fortnite won't run well with Integrated GPU's. That means you need a dedicated gpu to run this game. If you have a mid range GPU, that means a gpu with which you can play recent games in mid to low settings. Then it's going to be a problem to run this game in medium settings with 1080p resolution. May be you are not going to have any problem with single player games. But when playing online games or battle royale game like fortnite or pubg or apex legends, then you need a fast internet as well as a fast PC.

So I have a Sapphire pulse rx 550 gpu which is a mid range gpu. After running new fortnite chapter 2 season 1 in low settings with 1080p , it kinda feeling like getting stuck in some places. Specially when you are in a close combat. So I tried lowering the resolution just to see if the performance of this game increases or not. And guess what? It actually did. Performance improved a bit. You can actually increase the performance of any games by lowering the resolution of that game.

When playing the game in 1080p with the graphics settings set to it lowest, it was giving an avg of 70-80 fps, in some places fps increasing and also decreasing frequently. But when I lowered the resolution and made it - 1600 x 900 ,the fps went up and getting an avg of 90 fps with frequent increase and decrease depending on the place. The point is, lowering the resolution actually making the game run a bit smoother. Which will help you a lot in the case of fortnite to run and play the game properly. Here is the performance video of the game with 1920x1080p resolution and 1600 x 900p resolution  -

As you can see the game is performing a little better when I lowered the resolution. Now I made another video with 720p resoltuion and played a full Team Rumble match. Team rumble match is the best match to check the performance cause it's kind get crowded when the map gets small. Here is the video -

It's pretty clear that low resolution means increased performance. In 720p , the game is running pretty fast than other two resolution above.

Personally, I prefer to play the game with 1600 x 900 resolution, I am kind of used to play the game in that resolution. If you have RX 550 or same category gpu like this one, like gt 1030 or any other mid range or low range gpu's, just try to lower the resolution of the game just like in these videos and your game will run a lot better.

Fortnite Chapter 2 is looking fantastic and I am pretty sure everyone is enjoying the game pretty much. Thanks for reading my post. Enjoy playing the game.
