RX 550 and Ryzen 5 5600x Test with Fortnite

Recently I got the Ryzen 5 5600x and paired it with my old RX 550 GPU, and checked how Fortnite performing in this setup. RX 550 is undoubtedly one of the low budget GPU that available out there. Now If I am being honest, you cant depend on it to run the recent games. Now, about Fortnite, well, its still stands somewhere.

Fortnite's new season is looking really good and also the game looks heavy on high graphics. RX 550 is a low end GPU so there is no way you can expect much from it. Though, after pairing the GPU with Ryzen 5 5600x, FPS increased a bit than before. Previously I was using Ryzen 5 1500x, but with 5600x, game performing way better. And to get the best performance, I'll recommend you to play the game in performance mode.

RX 550 and Ryzen 5 5600x can handle the game in performance mode with 1080p resolution. FPS is around 70-80, which is not that much but still you can enjoy the game pretty well. At least I am enjoying it a lot. Here you can check the performance of the game -

I think average 70-80 fps on fortnite is pretty enjoyable. As you can see in the video above, I managed to get at least 16 eliminations. For a noob like me, this is a huge improvement - upgrading ryzen 5 1500x to ryzen 5 5600x. Also , to increase the performance of the game, you can always try to lower the resolution. In 720p, you can run the game a bit more faster. Here check this video how Fortnite running in 720p -

An average of 160 fps in 720p resolution is pretty good improvement. The performance almost doubled when changed the resolution from 1080p to 720p. Fortnite is still entertaining, the game is really fun to play. Now if you are going for a low budget GPU, RX 550 is good but its definitely not a good option. If your CPU and RAM is not that good and also if you dont have a good SSD, then you can not rely on RX 550 to perform well. As for me, this is my PC specs -

Sapphire Pulse RX 550 4GB GDDR5

AMD Ryzen 5 5600x

Samsung Evo 250GB SSD

Samsung Evo 870 1 TB SSD

Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR4

Cooler Master 450 Watt PSU

If you are really tight on Budget, then go for RX 550, or else go for something like - 1650 ti or rx 6400, these GPUs might help you a bit if you don't have a good CPU or RAM.
